Home visits

If possible please try to telephone reception before 11am if you require a home visit.

A doctor may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.

House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Health Center.

If your home visit is urgent please tell the reception staff.

Telephone Consultations

If you need to speak to a doctor on the telephone you can arrange for the GP to call you back the same day.

It is important that you give the receptionist a brief reason for your request, telling the receptionist the nature of your call, you are, however, under no obligation to give this information if you do not wish to, but it may assist the doctor in prioritizing your call.

No specific time can be given.  If you are out when the GP telephones you or your phone is diverted to voice mail or a telephone answering service, they will make a note that they were unable to contact you and leave a message, if possible.  They may or may not, depending on perceived urgency, attempt to contact you again later that day.

It is not usually possible, except in an emergency, to interrupt a GP during surgery hours.

Your appointment

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery
  • on a video call
  • by text or email

Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.
